Yeah, I agree.  You could start by saying:

	man xdm

I guess it's actually called lightdm in ubuntu 14.04, a castrated
version of the man page, no wonder you don't know what a session is.
It's not needed for users to understand that stuff anymore.

But it's all still X, thank goodness.
