Well, my idea was that you put the GC into an object oriented system 
added on top of Forth. This system can have this knowledge, and 
therefore can benefit of this.  With a vtable approach, every managed 
data type is tagged (the vtable pointer is the tag), anyways.

In such a system, I would go for a separate object pointer stack (the 
TOS is the "current object"), and declare that object pointers anywhere 
else do not constitute roots - so if you use them, make sure there is 
already a root for it.

That way, you get the benefit of GC only for a certain style of 
programming - using that OOP system.

Ah, yes.  And you very likely have a handler object which knows how to 
deal with that data and can release it when the handler object is 
collected.
