In the Forth world, explicit freeing is too cumbersome, too, and you
don't want it there, either.  And actually traditional Forth has not
done any freeing, but relied on pre-allocation with limits (some would
say static allocation, but I consider that a questionable concept in a
language that does not have a single compile-time/run-time boundary.

And some OO people did not consider explicit deallocation too
cumbersome; it certainly the only thing that C++ has offered for a
long time (supposedly the new standard will support GC).

I have always made mistakes with cross.fs' A! etc.  I just don't think
that way when programming in something that looks like Forth.

Anyway, my point is that IMO the benefits of precise GC are not big enough
to justify the cost.
