They were accustomed to managing large engineering projects of all sorts, not just Forth nor even just software, but usually integrating hardware design & implementation, testing, etc. They were among the best managers I ever worked for. And since we were often in the position of being the first Forth project in a company, most of our bosses were not used to Forth. As I say, I don't deny that the "pointy hair boss" type exists, but I beg to differ with the assumption that that stereotype is universally (or even widely) valid.
