The closed part of the spec is the "secure" part, dealing with media
copy protection, that it turns out basically nobody uses.  The other
parts (the parts anyone cares about) are open.

The 1 bit mode is probably fine for loading programs and parameters into
the GA, or for copying chunks of code into an external ram at bootup.
It may be too slow for doing lots of bulk data transfers.

I think for GPS navigation, it might make sense to use the GA144 for the
signal handling, but you're probably better off with a conventional CPU
for dealing with stuff like maps.
