This reminds me of a humbling experience when making amends.  I'm 
pretty sure I've posted this before, but what the heck.

I'd been kitchen manager/chef at a decent steakhouse owned by a 
partnership of bankers.  When they decided to close it, I took 
home much of the meat.  About 8 years later when I told the main 
partner I'd stolen the meat, he didn't even remember who I was.  
DOH!
