I'm trying to teach myself Python (probably a hopeless cause) and I use Jstar for that. It doesn't have (quick fill) drop downs, but it knows it's working in Python, and automatically changes color and knows how to indent. I just open Guake by hitting F12, then type "jpy" (a shell script that moves to my python directory and asks for a file name and automatically adds the ".py" extension). If the file exists, it opens it — if it doesn't it opens a new file. I've downloaded a couple text editors (including Geany) and honestly I just don't like them as much as Jstar. More powerful, but less elegant and no WordStar keystrokes. -- The more I see of Windows, the more I like Linux.
