True, but you can also say 1) they have access to such deals,
and 2) they're they only ones who can afford such deals.

Not all wealthy people are that amoral.  Some actually do quite
a bit of good.  There are many wealthy in the U.S. who produce
food at a low cost.  There are also many who've become wealth by
questionable means who turn around and donate that wealth to social
causes.  Do the ends justify the means?  No, but if they're a
philathropic billionaire, it sure helps.  Of course, their
questionable activities still harm good people in the process.

That was because the U.S. government was complicit.  They set interest
rates on mortgages so low anyone could get a mortgage.  It was unreal.  It
was like a wild west gold rush here.  I had some friends who had no credit
history whatsoever get huge loans to buy houses.  It looked like a bubble
to me a decade earlier.

Well, in recent times in the U.S., there has been a separation between
the concepts of 'rich' and 'wealthy', due to a popular book on wealth.
'rich' are those who are paid exceptionlly well for doing a job.  They
have to work for their money, e.g., rock stars, movie starts, sports
stars.  'wealthy' are people who own businesses and other assets that
generate income or capital gains (price appreciation on physical assets).
They don't have to work for a living.  Their assets generate income or,
gains which can be converted to income.
