It's the marriage, expensive vacations, the hospital births, the children, the children's college fund, the mid-life crisis sports car, the wife's out-of-control shopping sprees, the healthcare bills, the mortgage, the second mortgage, the retirement accounts, the divorce, the alimony, the child support payments, insurance and job loss, etc that drains the savings, i.e., American "family" life or the "American dream".
