A very obvious example is the config parser I use for net2o (it's a 
pretty generic .ini-style parser).  There, the values assigned to 
variables are all literals, so you don't want to search for names. And 
the variable names are all inside a particular vocabulary, there you want 
to search for names only.

Of course, the syntax of .ini files are not Forth syntax.  But the 
recognizer approach allows to reuse Forth components with ease for this 
job.  I could even add a recognizer for var=<value> style assignments, 
and have only that recognizer active, and use INCLUDED to load the config 
files; though I didn't go that far.  One reason is that I don't want the 
parsing of a .ini file stop when it sees one wrong line; just report that 
line as buggy, keep the sane default for it, and go on parsing.

That's what I see as the Forth way: To solve a problem, extend Forth to 
solve your problem.  If it's a parsing problem, change the parser.
