Anyone using Forth on a 16-bit platform will have far more
interesting problems to solve than how to enter a double
number!

There are greater challenges to a Forth newcomer than the
sight of doubles in Forth code.  Lack of type-checking is the
big one.  It can be a challenge even for experienced Forthers.
Yet newcomers take it in their stride without any drama.

If the trailing dot notation for doubles is changed in Forth it
will be for reasons other than newcomers couldn't handle it.
