26.04 Ubuntu is LTS. I've upgraded through several Ubuntu versions and it
always required some intervention. PostgreSQL in particular was a problem.
I'm not planning to go past 26.04.

'sudo zypper update' works like 'sudo dnf update', showing a list of what
will be upgraded and asking for a yes or no. Zypper is sort of a work in
progress and prints out 'Backend: classic_rpmtrans'
SUSE is rpm based and I think rpm is lurking under dnf and zypper. I think
you can get dnf working on Leap. At one time Red Hat had 'yum' and they
changed it to 'dnf' when they went to Python 3. iirc SLES also used yum
and aliased it to dnf.
I doubt if an alias would work in bash. Their idea of aliases is simple
minded. I originally used tcsh and had to change some of my aliases to
functions in bash. For example:
function get_phase1() {
svn co 'file:///CADSRC2/repos/cad/branches/acphase1/'${1}
}
