I am fairly new to Linux but am very impressed by it. However, the kind of inconsistency I mentioned above can hardly be justified in any system. Apparently some packages are supposedly installed as stated but are not really 'installed' in all meanings of the word. It would be an easy matter to provide a few instructions with each download if the relevant package needs additional treatment. Now, can you or can you not tell me if there is a simple and consistent way of running a package like TIN, which is apparently installed in my computer but is nowhere to be seen...and it is not the only one I have tried. If you can't then it is probably time you went back to using Microsoft.
