Nah, I don't think that makes sense, John.

Because all that ends up happening is that you point in more or less 
random directions, having no idea whether the direction is likely to 
have any payoff, and then you want other people to explain why it's a 
no-payoff or a payoff direction.

That, frankly, is the lazy man's approach.

Numerical literacy and the ability to find key numbers online and then 
do basic back-of-the-envelope calculations to see if it's remotely 
sensible, is a basic scientific skill. Anyone who is interested in 
scientific idea needs practice in this skill.

This was taught to me in science classes from high school to college. We 
worked simple things like: how long does it take for a low earth 
satellite to orbit the earth? This you should be able to calculate only 
knowing the diameter of the earth and the value of g, and you should be 
able to calculate it in your head and get an answer that is good to 
about 1 part in 20.
