I think that's entirely reasonable and I wouldn't dream of emailing or calling MPE saying 'You know that "no support" CD you sold me? Well, I'm having this problem with...' without waving some money at them too. 

Is either available actually to download anywhere? (Not that I need to, I'm just curious.)

Sometimes! One reason for being interested in software this old is being given some free old hardware so I can see if I can read some old 5.25" floppies from a variety of OSes and in a variety of formats. After that, there are some old DC2120 tapes to look at.
