So his name translates to: false guy!

That is actually what I meant: it's a sick joke!

So we have a pattern: bad guys fake evidence, kill the innocent and 
laugh about the public.

Would got killed? Actually the 'terrorists' were executed.

In those days these 'terrorists' have been defined by their religion 
(Catholicism than, Islam today).

  The aim of King James/Jacob was apparently to force people into the 
Anglican Church, which was under his rule.

So killing Catholics would fit into such an agenda, but would need some 
sort of justification (the gun-powder plot).

Brits always declared, they are, who writes history. So we would need 
evidence from independent sources (other than British).
