Share maybe, but handle merging?  Branches?

There's a whole big world outside the windows.

Nonsense, ssh is useful out of the box in most decent operating systems 
and probably windows too with the appropriate package.

So share your repository via http(s)!

You can use Tortoise HG to pull from or push to remote repositories on 
windows.  You should try it (or Tortoise SVN) some time, it is an 
excellent application.
