Ah.  Another example.  OK, but it does not shed any light on what
murkiness you saw in your last example.  I'd like to clear that up first
(since it seemed to confirm a common misconception) but if you can't say
more about what was murky about it then let's leave it.  Do you at least
agree that accessing a union member other than the one last stored is
unspecified behaviour rather than undefined behaviour per se?

Why the capital letters in "Strict Aliasing Rule"?  It makes it sound
like there is a well-known thing with that agreed name.

Anyway, this example is about aliasing and C's effective type rules.
Does that mean you think your previous example broke C's effective type
rules?
