How do you eat the toffees in your pocket?  Do you keep taking your
jacket off to have look to make sure there is one left before putting
you hand in to get it, or do you just try and only stop when your hand
signals there are aren't any left?

Analogies work only explain.  You won't switch to C's way of doing I/O
because I give you an analogy, and I won't start writing bad C input
loops because you suggest the other way is analogous to crashing my car.
