They had to license the boot ROM code from Apple. It seems that Apple placed some sorts of conditions in that license that prohibited them from supporting the installation of SL client. We don't know for sure. These license agreements are between the VM companies and Apple and have never been made public.

You're confusing two different license agreements. One is between Apple and the VM companies; the one we don't know about. It seems extremely likely that for VMware/Parallels et al to support the installation of SL client would violate *that* license agreement and that's why they don't support it.

But that license agreement has nothing to do with what we, the end users, can do with Snow Leopard. Those terms are governed alone by the Snow Leopard SLA, which you quoted above. Like I mentioned it contains no restriction against running it in a VM on Apple hardware, with no other copies of Snow Leopard installed on that machine. That is a fact.

Jerry-rigging Snow Leopard to run in a VM with 10.9 as the host on Apple hardware in no way violates Snow Leopard's SLA. This is a fact. 

Lay the myth to rest already.
