it's easy to come up with reasons not to like anything. so what?
everything has flaws. if someone wants to hate, they will find a way.

my point is that the haters say 'itunes sucks', usually without giving
a good reason why. 

the original poster in this thread did not like itunes because he found
that it was difficult to remove (and didn't follow the clear steps
outlined by apple) and he thought it might interfere with embroidery
software. note that he never actually *used* itunes.

what are you doing that you end up in the music store by accident? i
can only think of two ways to get there, either click the store link on
the side or the little arrow next to a song. 

i can't see how those could be an accident, but nevertheless, either or
both of those can be disabled.

that was a dumb decision, but one that's easily reversed. 

it's also not a reason to hate the app with the intense passion that
some people have. turn the sidebar back on and that's the end of that.

what's confusing about backups? 

when you sync, everything on the idevice is backed up. it doesn't get
any simpler than that. 

if you get a new device, you can tell it to restore from a backup and
the new device has everything that the old device did (other than
needing to reenter passwords in some cases, which is  security issue). 

you can also tell it to set it up as a new device and it won't restore
anything.

if you want confusing, try backing up and restoring an android device.
not only do you need a third party app to do it, but they require root
to back up everything. rooting a device can be anywhere from easy to
not at all easy (my device requires a hardware mod). there are a couple
of backup apps that claim root isn't required, but you need to either
stumble upon one of them or someone tells you which ones to try.

i only use the store to buy apps and it's *much* easier to do that it
in itunes than on a device, mainly due to screen space.

itunes is nowhere near as bad as the alternatives that the haters come
up with.
