Some of the complaints are simply people whining because iTunes is a
"walled garden" and Apple won't let them screw about in the iPad file
structure however they want to ... rather than actually using the
devices properly.

Other complaints are from techno-geeks who have screwed about with
their Windows system (with weird hardware and / or software) so much
that iTunes simply no longer works for them. There's simply no way
Apple (nor Microsoft, nor any other software company) can account for
all the varied and weird PC systems out there, which is one reason
Windows software tends to be so buggy.
