Dude, your relentless crusade against systemd is becoming utterly
boring, to the point where I for one find it extremely difficult to
take anything you write seriously anymore.

I used to be anti-systemd too, because I just couldn't understand WHY
it was being adopted at such a fast rate, while it wasn't even
production-ready yet. And neither Lennart's smugness on account of
other distributions than RedHat nor the political motivations behind
systemd's adoption BY other distributions were helping in that regard.

But then I decided to look at things from a technical perspective, and
apart from the binary logs — which I still don't think is a good idea —
systemd does make sense. And now I'm using it, and it does exactly what
it says on the label. It works, and it works very well.

Yes, it's a different way of doing things. Yes, it does appear as if
it's not the traditional UNIX way, but that's just an illusion, because
systemd is the name of more than just the init daemon.

If you look at how it works, then it IS comprised of small modules that
do one thing only, and the "PID = 1" daemon itself is relatively
small. If you don't want the binary logs for instance, then it's
trivial to disable journald and start another logger like rsyslogd.

You are not against systemd because of what it is, but because you are
having a knee-jerk reaction over what systemd is NOT.

If I were you, I'd be worrying whole heck of a lot more about the
corporate-fascist surveillance features in Google Chrome and the way
the corporate world at large is regarding each and every one of us as a
tradable commodity.

There is something very disturbing and brainwashing about the language
and innuendos used in the settings of Chrome and Chromium.

"My gosh, do you really want to send a "do not track" signal to web
sites??? If you do that, then they won't be able to send you ads
about things that you might wat to purchase even though you don't
need them! Are you sure that you really want that??? Really???
Okay then, enter your password, type Ctrl+Alt+S, followed by
SysRq+Z, click three times on the red button, followed by a
double-click on the green button, then go outside, take off your
clothes and dance five times around a burning candle in the wind.
After completing this procedure, Google Chrome will now send a "do
not track" signal with your traffic. But if you want to use an ad
blocker too, then you must first buy a plane ticket to Timbuktu, say
twenty "Hail Mary"'s, hold your breath while tapping the space bar
twice with the big toe of your left foot, ..."

   </hyperbole>

Store your data in the cloud, entrust the corporations with your
valuable data, pay them to store it, and then they can pull the
plug on their cloud storage offer any time "because of changing market
demands" and you end up losing all your data. Plus that it gives them
a greater ability to track your behavior and — you've guessed it — send
you targeted ads.

The Dutch film director Paul Verhoeven — known internationally from
movies like (the original) "Total Recall", the "Robocop" series and the
"Starship Troopers" series — has been trying to warn the world for
decades of the upcoming corporate-fascist tech revolution THROUGH his
movies. And here we are. Don't even bother talking to anyone at the bus
stop anymore, because they've got earbuds in and their eyes are glued to
their smartphones. They're zombies.

If I were you, I'd start worrying a little more about all of that, than
about systemd. systemd isn't perfect, but neither is sysvinit. Don't
throw the baby out with the bathwater because of the politics that
were involved over at other distributions like Debian and Ubuntu.
