In some OO systems the saving and restoring mechanism is explicit
(e.g., Bernd Paysan's systems), in others it is implicit on method
entry (e.g., objects.fs). Even in the former case I find the view
that it is a global variable quite unusual; it's the same as we get
with R@ (THIS or O), >R (>O), and R> DROP (O>), and nobody has claimed
that the top of the return sack is a global variable.
