Talking of macOS apps, Hogwasher 5.20 is still crashing on me with the
official 10.15 build. If and when you upgrade I’d be interested if you get
similar problems. I’ve had no feedback from the bug reports I submitted
when using the beta Catalina builds :-(

I see other people are now reporting Hogwasher crashes with Catalina on
the comp.sys.mac.system group. I've had no response to the bug report I
sent to Asar. Any, yes, I also allowed the auto generated reports to go
to Apple.

Anyway let's see if the newly released 5.21 version solves the issue.

Bloody hell guys, you're all idiots. An iOS device is a electronic device that iOS run on. Even that specifically is just iPhones with the current version, if you really want to be pedantic. Of course we also now have iPadOS devices too. Apart from that, you're all arguing on a point of context and naming of devices which are all neither right nor wrong, and at the same time both right and wrong. In such cases it would be expected to agree a 'house' convention to decide how to describe such things. To me, a handheld or portable device is normally not considered a 'computer' in the traditional sense. For one thing they do NOT usually have all the capabilities of a full size desktop machine. Screen size and keyboard functionality for a start, storage space and connectivity capabilities and so on, and processor performance (including GPU etc). Of course they can do an awful lot of what most users need, but IMHO nothing like as easily or with as efficient workflows. If you really want to define 'computer' to the silliest level, start counting on your fingers - where do you thing the term 'digital' came from? -- Andy Hewitt

Not for almost anything I use a computer for. Unless it's making a phone call. He never tried cleaning his ears using a laptop. Shakespeare used one it was a 2B or not 2B. > > >>>> Screen size > > >>>> and keyboard functionality for a start, storage space and connectivity > > >>>> capabilities and so on, and processor performance (including GPU etc). > > >>> > > >>> recent iphones and ipads benchmark faster than most laptops. > > >> > > >> So, where did I mention laptop? > > > > > > nobody said you mentioned them, but that's what most people use. > > > > I'm not most people. > > exactly the point. > > you want a 27" display which is not portable. The imax cinemas have displays much bigger and they too must be in some way portable otherwise yuo wouldn't be able to install them. But we all know what the word portable means don't we ?

Yup, useless to me, I adopted using a keyboard and typed characters because I have poor handwriting. I'm terrible at drawing, and I simply key in any notes I take. It's just a different tool to do jobs in an alternative way. > it's a feature that a laptop/desktop does not have. Is it? Not directly I suppose, but there are ways. >>> and then there's the cameras, gps, accelerometer, compass, direct >>> manipulation and other features that do not exist in any shipping mac. >> >> None of which are much use in a desktop machine anyway, although my iMac >> does have a camera. > > it's camera is nowhere near as capable nor can you easily move it > around. I didn't say that either. I have no jackets here that I could get my iPad into. -- Andy Hewitt
