Fast yes, but from where do they get the chipsets? - I know that they
make some chipsets themselves, but also that they buy pre-made
components for most of their SSDs - just like OWC does it. If I
understand the OWC descriptions most of their shipsets are from either
Crucial or TechWorks. - And both Samsung and OWC have a variety of
different models - right from very cheap to very expensive.

Yes, now Samsung don't make harddisks anymore after they've sold their
HD division to the Seagate-WesternDigital concern. - I have indeed
earlier on seen too many Samsung SpinPoint HDs simply just break down so
people have lost all their data - and that on both Macs and Win-based PCs.

The first year or so after Seagate-WesternDigital bought the Samsung
division, Seagate - obviously also bought the already made SpinPoint
discs, since Seagate sold some discs under the name "Seagate SpinPoint"
to apprx. half the price of what a similar real Seagate disc would cost.
- Here in Denmark we could buy such a "Seagate SpinPoint" 2tb disc for
as little as apprx. £30 where the std. 2tb ST2000007AS would cost nearly
£60...

Cheers, Erik Richard
