Samsung are well known for making their own SSDs, and they're some of the fastest and most reliable - top tier for domestic use. Samsung don't make hard drives and don't pretend to. You easily can get faster as even Thunderbolt 2 can move data at 20Gbps full duplex, which takes an NVMe SSD to fill the bandwidth. The internal HDD will be SATA3 at 6Gbps and will only use at fastest perhaps 2Gbps of that. A full power of ten difference in pure throughput speed, not even considering how much better an SSD is for access speeds.
