It's football when you hit the ball with your foot, fuckwit. What you described must surely be some idiot European game... not hand-ball... oh, of course, head-ball! What's next, I wonder? It's just like cursive writing and photographic film. I remind you > what year this is. Well, no... Most people use only the simplest forms of mathematics, once they have left school. But there are exceptions to this rule. Engineers for instance need math to construct - say- turbines. All the other scientists need sufficient knowledge of mathematics, too. And physicists need the most knowledge in this realm, since many aspects of physics are purely mathematical. Proper English is something useful, too, especially if English is you first language and you have a job, that is more challenging than flipping burgers. If you are native speaker of English, you should certainly have mercy with those, who aren't and would not insist in correcting tiny errors. Since if you are a native English speaker and try to correct someone from Poland (or Germany), those could 'correct' your Polish /German as well. TH

Right, poor idiot. You really should learn the meaning of "football" before insisting on "football is when you hit the ball with your foot".

That's what their brain is designed for. They check things out and adults tell them, what is right and what is not. But if you don't tell kids, what they should do and what not, they will not know, unless they check it out themselves. This could cause casualties, since a few tries could be fatal. And so the kids will not appreciate this non-teaching. To teach kids, you actually don't need to be rude. Just tell them, what is right and what is not. But it is necessary to check that out in advance, since kids want good advice. >> It's just like cursive writing and photographic film. > > Even now, there are still times we need to write stuff. Well, yes. But communication requires more than just understanding the other ones words. TH

Tell that to the Politikal Korrektness Kult in English-speaking countries, Thomas. They really do believe what I said. I watched a spokesork from the Victorian Primary Teachers' Association[1] tell us exactly that during their 1975 campaign to have grammar, spelling and phonetics removed from the public school curriculum. She told us (and this is verbatim - I was so shocked by it that I can't forget it) "As long as they inderstand each other; that's all that matters". BTW; when you read my stuff in future, it will hekp if you have your irony detector turned on. > That's what their brain is designed for. That's a teleological-sounding error. Agreed (irony being a case in point). But understanding the other's words *as that person intends them* is indispensible, wouldn't you agree? Ned [1] Victoria, in this case, is am Australian State.

Here we have it again: 'Intentional bad behaviour' is apparently a common phenomenon in politics. So, a little more than 'just understand each other' is not all, that matters. And certainly public education could do more than this. How about things like foreign literature or own writing skills? I personally think, that intellectual misbehaviour of politicians is somehow rewarded. IOW: the more idiotic the policy, the higher someone climbs the hierarchy. And 'political correctness' is certainly among the more idiotic concepts. > BTW; when you read my stuff in future, it will help if you have > your irony detector turned on. But that's an entirely different question. .. TH

I think, there are several independent substreams acting in the society. And some people want the masses more exploitable, while others don't. So we have opposing forces, that push and pull (according to their agenda) on the society. At the end things are not as one side wants, nor in favour of the other. Most likely the results are somewhere in the middle. This not bad at all, since this is usually the most acceptable result for the majority. TH
