I don't right now recall which 10.3, 10.4 versions it was, but the G5s 
are/were 10.5.8 (I still have the one G5 to be able to run Classic OS 
9.2.2).

So I'm not wrong. The models mentioned are all PowerPC G4s + the two 
G5s. - Read my last answer to nospam, that may explain why...

My two MacPro1.1 - 2,66ghz + 3,0ghz are booting fine from USB drives 
including USB sticks. I found USB to be too slow so now I'm only using 
external FW800 backup disks - cloned with CCC...
