Only an Intel Mac capable of running Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) can boot
from a USB, and it must be booting 10.4.5 or later, so Erik is simply
wrong.

Also, many of the first coupe of years of Intel Macs have issues booting
from USB, so your success with 2006 or 2007 machines might be a bit hit
or miss.

But I had several 2009 models and all of them were fine with any USB2
drive for booting.
