Government transactions which you must comply with don't follow
*nix [open standards].
You are forced to have an "up to date Microsoft compatible system".

So you just have a dual/multi-bootable system, with the first
partitions given to M$.

That worked OK, until I needed to attatch a fd0 device for some
unusual reason.
Although I normally boot into Slakware from a USBstik, with BIOS:
1stboot-device=hard-disk  Debian-Wheezy's grub had made a nice
ability to also boot to M$-Win7 [fancy]. But after messing with the 
fd0, grub seems to be messed too.

Some years back, it was interesting to investigate grub, but I don't
want to do that again.
Is grub too smart, and reconfigures itself as the devices change?
Eg: devices are no longer hdxN, but the <actual device ID>
and hdx has become sdy.

fdisk, cfdisk, sfdisk, *parted* ... etc. are all inconsistent,
because M$ holds the keys to the gate. 
And the extra pre/dummy partition that Win* now uses ?

Perhaps a safer/more-stable method is to "come in the front door"
and use loadlin to got to the various linux?
loadlin has only got 3,4,5 simple args.
