Yeah, there was all that also. But a big part of it is that many (if not most) people just want to use a computer – they don't want to relearn it every six months. Besides, Windows upgrades have a tendency to break things, sometimes rendering formerly good applications useless. >>> Microsoft Solitaire Collection on my Android phone was recently updated >>> to the latest version too. I downloaded the newest Angry Birds Rio (actually a version 1 & 2 combo) for my Amazon Fire. This is their new release. They didn't do anything wrong – it's just that the original free version Angry Birds didn't have the ads. I assume the Windows version of Angry Birds, Angry Birds 2(?) and Angry Birds Rio that I bought are still ad free. I haven't tried them in a couple (maybe three) years. I don't even know if I still have copies any more. I guess if I could dig up the activation codes I could see if I could still download them. -- The more I see of Windows, the more I like Linux.

I mentioned it in an earlier post but while Windows 8 still ran the old game Freedom Force fairly well, Windows 10 completely broke it (and I still haven't gotten around to actually playing it). Meanwhile, in Linux, it runs beautifully now with Steam Play. One operating system is actively trying to increase its list of available software while the other is actively trying to reduce its library of existing software in favour of new titles alone. Blu-Ray software is another interesting thing. My computer came with software that can play the medium, but it constantly bombards you with ads asking you to upgrade to the latest version. If you do, the new version will bombard you with ads to upgrade to the newer version once a year goes by. Meanwhile, VLC just plays the medium (if you configure it to) and doesn't give a shit if you're not running the latest version of the software. -- SilverSlimer FSF Contributor / EFF Member / Free speech advocate Absolute centrist, proud Catholic

I can tell Klaus Schadenfreude does not even know what is wrong with Mac. My point of view: Even if Klaus Schadenfreude was simply learning to annoy others, the feeling that attaining know-how as being one of having "naught" to show for it does not follow because you'll clearly have the know-how to show for it and an education is an advantage in life. You're like a full moon on a cloudless night. We all see you there and thinking you are being clever. And you're so brain-dead you keep doing it. Ha, ha, ha! Enough already. You're again trying to act like you know as much as Jeff Relf. You're the village idiot and your many brainless programs show this. And in reply you have nothing but an attempt to start a troll-fest. -- Top 15 Ways Klaus Schadenfreude Trolls https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/comp.os.linux.development.apps/G2-ZXYAEyIM Jonas Eklundh Communication AB

If I buy a computer which has a Blu-Ray reader/writer, I expect that the hardware will come with software which will immediately allow me to use that functionality. In the case of a Windows-based computer, the software required to read BR is there, for free, but it will insist that you buy the latest (or complete) version immediately. They basically shame you for using whatever they offered for free. BR writing though, no software to be found. So you have the hardware but can't use one of its features unless you spend some more for the appropriate software. To me, that's even worse than obsolescence. However, I've definitely seen a lot of software simply stop working after a while on both Windows and MacOS. On Linux, it happens too with some software, but I suppose it's not that big of a deal since the source of that abandoned software is always available and any issue can easily be resolved by rebuilding or rewriting some parts of the software. With proprietary stuff, if it stops working, you either have to hope that the built-in "compatibility" mode does its job or you need to buy the product's latest version if it still exists. -- SilverSlimer FSF Contributor / EFF Member / Free speech advocate Absolute centrist, proud Catholic

Carried to its ultimate ending, the concept that it's 'bigoted' for a straight normal guy to not wish to screw a child is established. Now Steve Carroll on the other end of the crap doesn't matter. All that matters is Klaus Schadenfreude gets to deliver his flood. So how to beat Klaus Schadenfreude at his own game? Don't pay attention the moron. Honest discussion isn't part of the plan and never will be. Klaus Schadenfreude is trying (with "all they have") to project their MO onto Steve Carroll. For some time Klaus Schadenfreude has encouraged the idea that Steve Carroll needs 'backing' to point out all his dishonesty. The fact is that no one needs any proof to do that. So Klaus Schadenfreude pulls this goofy flooding garbage in an incompetent attempt to 'push' the idea that Steve Carroll is like he is. Klaus Schadenfreude's done a pretty good job with (it appears) Pseudo-Context Free Grammar to regurgitate posts which are hard to distinguish from a previous post in the group. All that Klaus Schadenfreude cares about is that Klaus Schadenfreude gets to broadcast his prank call and then hang up and giggle about it. The fact that Steve Carroll is an innocent patsy on the other end of the phone is what gets him off. If you have 'b.doc' open in an editor such as emacs and you want to change its name to 'windows.txt' via a proxy icon, that might be wise, if only to see it attach to a tmux display. -- This Trick Gets Women Hot For You!! http://www.5z8.info/hack-outlook_c6c9in_michaelangelo-virus Jonas Eklundh

What matters more from an honest advocates way of thinking are the non-exceptional uses. At times, fancy is more valuable than facts. So, yeah, I buy into my own fantasy, fully knowing it would never be discovered by others, because it makes me reconsider my program, improving it. No one who isn't just using you for trouble-making aim (isn't a sock/shill) sees you as anything remotely close to decent. You have nobody but Klaus Schadenfreude to point to for that. Frankly I do not really mind. Klaus Schadenfreude asked to be rated according to objective trolling criteria, which I obliged him with. Klaus Schadenfreude proved himself to be a hypocrite by having the pretense to not argue with Steven Carroll by emphatically screaming 'Into the bin with you!' and then bombarding him anyhow by means of a 3rd party. > > > > > > -- > > > This broke the Internet! > > > https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/6sfkup/what_desktop_tasks_does_linux_handle_better_than/= > > > http://www.5z8.info/-php-deactivate_phishing_filter-48-_e3m8dt_malicious-cookie > > > Jonas Eklundh Communication > > > > > > > > ChromeOS is based on Linux. Of course. You can say I am Satan himself for all I care. Having to deal with the use of VPN would just confuse the general user. What matters more from an honest advocates way of thinking are the non-exceptional uses. Both Copernicus and Flooder Carroll had their oversights and their discomfort. But one played it off and didn't do anything too shocking that could not be backed with peer reviews. > > Clearly there are too many "bugs are acceptable" Linux users and not enough programers with enough understanding to help the people with Android. > > - > This Trick Gets Women Hot For You > http://www.5z8.info/michaelangelo-virus_t6v2vq_molotovcocktail > http://www.5z8.info/titstitstitstits_j7t4bl_stalin > Jonas Eklundh Communication AB Asking William 'The Flooder' Poaster to stop trolling, which we should all do, is distinct from pointing out his trolling. My idea was that advocates stay here to combat deniers. It isn't as if we all do not quickly figure out what this group is, Jonas Eklundh included. Fuchsia runs on the Cinnamon kernel. So yeah, Cinnamon is mobile. Cinnamon is a super computer. Cinnamon is a server. Cinnamon is a desktop. Cinnamon is growing in market share. Heck, just recently William 'The Flooder' Poaster was declaring himself the only "true Linux advocate", and claiming that "advocates" (in irony-quotes, because he is afraid of them) are trying to make Linux become like the Mac. That reminds me, I think I'm due for another round of donations to my favorite open projects, e.g. VLC, Mint, LO, and Wikipedia. -- "Wasn't the virus actually spread and delivered by sendmail?" - DumFSck, putting his ignorance on display
