An argument from incredulity? I don't believe it.

It would be for starters, because nobody wants to come here. _That is
the trolls' goal._ Do you see?

Well, you could argue that John is on-topic, in that he is definitely
posting advocacy for Linux.

(Sad, misguided advocacy, but advocacy nonetheless. ;)

JHC, are there more logical fallacies than disorders in Snit's DSM?

If I understand the question, then I'd say no. (Snit's DSM? You mean
_the_ DSM V? Or Snit's diagnoses? Or...?)

Old logic faq:

http://pastebin.com/yLTAMwP4

Newer faq:

http://infidels.org/library/modern/mathew/logic.html

There's a lot of them, and that doesn't even identify them all.

A common place for the argument from incredulity is creationism, where
someone refuses to accept that evolution can make sense, no matter how
much evidence is given them. They don't get a sense of the timescales
involved, so they don't believe it can happen.

I took a logic class once, and the professor had a rule that if you made
an A on the exam you automatically got an A on the next exam, so I only
had to take the one. I loved logic. But that was then, and this is now.

Now you hate logic. Clearly. :)

I've been trying to tell people that for... almost FOREVER!

One reason religion works for a lot of people, is we can't even conceive
of what evolution could or couldn't do in a few billion years. We have
absolutely no sense of a timescale that long. On the one hand,
evolution makes sense because it's provable. On the other hand, how
many fortuitous events had to happen to create a world as complex as
ours? It boggles the mind. And then... on a THIRD hand... where the
fuck did all the stuff come from in the first place?

My cat's lucky. She isn't cursed with pondering all this shit every
fucking day... she just "is".

"People didn't cause the Great Depression, Liberal ko0kTarD. Governmental
policy did." - Fakey in MID <7880b90ad2ecebe35ba01b4557597d80%40dizum.com>

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Causes_of_the_Great_Depression
"The initial stock market crash triggered a "panic sell-off" that made the
stock market go even lower."

so... so the "government" panicked, snickers?

funny that a bona-fide conservative horatio alger hero type would want the
government stepping in to save the stock market.

"Current theories may be broadly classified into two main points of view
and several heterodox points of view.

First, there are demand-driven theories, from Keynesian and institutional
economists who argue that the depression was caused by a widespread loss
of confidence that led to underconsumption. The demand-driven theories
argue that the financial crisis following the 1929 crash led to a sudden
and persistent reduction in consumption and investment spending.[1] Once
panic and deflation set in, many people believed they could avoid further
losses by keeping clear of the markets. Holding money therefore became
profitable as prices dropped lower and a given amount of money bought ever
more goods, exacerbating the drop in demand.

Second, there are the monetarists, who believe that the Great Depression
started as an ordinary recession, but that significant policy mistakes by
monetary authorities (especially the Federal Reserve), caused a shrinking
of the money supply which greatly exacerbated the economic situation,
causing a recession to descend into the Great Depression. Related to this
explanation are those who point to debt deflation causing those who borrow
to owe ever more in real terms."

wait? what? no major "third" konservative k0okTheory blaming the
government for everything mentioned?

odd, that. eh, lotusLoser?

service. It's not rocket science.

_The I2P community got all up in arms when I discussed on their forum how

The Gish Gallop is often used as an indirect argument from authority — as
it appears to paint the galloper as an expert in a broad range of subjects
or with an extensive knowledge of an individual one. Simultaneously it
presents opponents (in spoken debates) or refuters (in written,
Internet-based ones) as incompetent bumblers who didn't do their homework
before the debate. Such emphasis on style over substance is the reason
many scientists disdain public debates as a forum for disseminating

snickers the wonderturd describes how he alerted lots of his kiddie pr0n
friends to the ensuing FBI sting in message
<b5e7da79a455d0c9227b1b50e25e7ea1@dizum.com>:
"That's easy enough to do... how do you think my crew uncovered the
largest CP ring using Tor and I2P, which we promptly turned over to
the FBI? I discovered a way to uncover the IP addresses the I2P users were
using, and a way of tracking Eepsites back to their IP addresses, then we
figured out that we could DDOS a Tor IP address and modify Tor headers
while checking whether a Tor hidden service was still up, then using
process of elimination to pinpoint the IP address hosting that hidden
service. It's not rocket science.

_The I2P community got all up in arms when I discussed on their forum how
I was doing it, and that it'd be a good way of cleaning up I2P so it can
get on with being a platform to research anonymous communication... my
distinct impression was that the "anonymity
research platform" story was just a cover story to allow pervs to
trade CP._ (NOTE: admits to participating in what he "suspected" was a
kiddie pr0n network.)

That Silk Road 2.0 was taken offline in the ensuing FBI Operation
Onymous was just icing on the cake."

It didn't make it with me because it never went multiuser before I lost

I am relaxed. I've been having a pleasant evening gardening.

You, on the other hand, were just faced with your life being turned
upside-down.

How will you get your "fix" if you can't troll COLA anymore?

Your posts don't indicate that.

lol.
You overestimate your capabilities and you grossly underestimate the
power of social media when it comes down to focusing on corporations.

> How will you get your "fix" if you can't troll COLA anymore?

Again, the power of the press.

Fact is you are a kook who, for some odd reason, is obsessed with
alt.usenet.kooks which is why you started the xposts there.

Odd behavior for sure, but then so is an obsession with Star Wars.

Yes, your bully cause will go viral! Occupy will march!

Look: this is obvious psychological projection. Take a look in the
mirror -- who is going to listen to you, a USENET crank? You get your
thrills from posting trolls to a tiny, tiny newsgroup! If you were
actually capable of making any kind of difference, wouldn't you have
moved on over the last 20 years? Go save the dolphins or something.

I will admit that the Net's end-run around legacy media gives us all a
much better way to speak truth to power. But _you_ wouldn't be telling
the truth, would you? What would that make you? What happens when you
speak lies to power, hmmmm?

Fact is, you are a kook who, for some odd reason, is obsessed with
comp.os.linux.advocacy, which is why you've been posting there for two
decades. Meanwhile, I'm pointing out you crazed kooks to the good people
of auk, because that's how its done on the USENET. You don't like it?
Go make your own network.

Your star wars fanfic is curious, but ineffective -- it's you that keeps
referencing it, not me. If this is another example of psychological
projection, then I'm wondering how long before you start hearing voices.

Now run along before FNVHe takes an interest in you. I don't think
someone in your fragile state would survive that, lol.

Ask a politician. They do it every day.

a person is saying.

You have the wrong person.
However, you seem obsessed with AUK and seeing as you seem to be one
yourself that is understandable.

I'm not the one making OBLinux posts.
That's you.
I'm simply pointing it out.
It's weird.

Been there and done that.

So you just _pretend_ to be the guy obsessed with COLA by _acting_ like
the guy obsessed with COLA and _being_ obsessed with COLA.

How do we differentiate between what you appear to be and what you are?
They are the same thing: obsessed and fixated.

No, that would be the "power". We're talking about the "truth" -- which
you would not have, being a purveyor of lies.

HarHar.

In other newsgroups, in the days of USENET yore, it was once the custom
to add a "obligatory" paragraph to keep an post on-topic. They are
labeled "Ob(topic)" and pertain to the newsgroup's topic -- in this case,
Linux.

Though I've explained this multiple times, you clearly haven't been
paying attention in class. Consider yourself properly schooled, and try
not to be the class clown about it.
