He's unquestionably getting supported by the gov't he hates so much. His recurring theme that the rest of us should feel 'guilty' for everything under the sun is designed to keep us paying ('psych' 101 on guilt). The resources for his 'degrees' could have gone to someone who would have put them to actual use. What irks me about him the most is that he constantly complains about 'the rich' but people like him are a *much* bigger problem as they are burdening the system. In the U.S. there are millions and millions of people like him... and we can't afford them. They should be put to work doing something constructive that the government usually has to pay for... with *our* money.

Are the posters in CSMA different than the ones who were around years
ago when the guy was ousted from the group? I can't imagine that they
would be so willing to welcome him back after successfully getting rid
of him.

It very well may mean "the hard drive only" if for instance /home/snit occupies the entirety of a hard drive. string. Where that string actually points is not defined. Asking "where
it is" is meaningless in a context restricted to the tilde itself and

I know EXACTLY which folder they mean (because I know in that context the
tilde means the user folder). No doubt at all.
