"Real machines" don't have "Finder," but it sounds like the same thing
will happen as happens when I restart nautilus.

Feel free to point me to Finder application in OS X, so we can see what
kind of app it is.

Dude, that page says that you can kill it in a terminal with

$ killall Finder.

I don't have a Mack, but "to see what kind of app is is," I'd try:

$ file `which Finder`

$ which Finder
Finder not found

P.S. You better try harder.

Mack really returns that?
And here I was thinking that Mack was BSD under the hood.
$ uname -a
FreeBSD helios 10.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 10.1-RELEASE #0 r274401: Tue Nov 11 21:02:49 UTC 2014     root@releng1.nyi.freebsd.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC  amd64
$ which Finder
$

If like they say above it can be killall'd by name Finder, then find
what process is using that name and track it down.

Finder is started as daemon, it can be started/stopped with launchctl.
bmaxa:~ bmaxa$ launchctl list | grep -i finder

bmaxa:~ bmaxa$ ps ax | grep -i finder

Of course Finder can be tracked down. But you'll find it not where OS X
keep the apps, but in /System/Library/CoreServices. Why do you think system
gets frozen for a little while when you're trying to restart Finder?

If you have no trouble tracking it down, why were you asking me to
point you to it? And now that you've found it (with Melzzzz's help)
you can run file on it "to find out what kind of app it is."
Who knows, maybe it's a perl script.

Once again, for the attention-deficit among us, I don't have a Mack.
Does something make it "not an app" just because it's not in your path?

Unfortunately, you also don't have a brain. I can assure you I will cheer
you on the next Special Olympics, but meanwhile I would like you to find
out why GUI can't properly work without certain internal processes. Thanks

A lot smarter than you will ever be.
One of your mistakes in your maintenance career was working for Data
General, if you ever worked for them.

Which is one you can't seem to make up yet.
LOL!!!

As an aside, I'm glad the German peoples are doing something about the
refugees. Shame on the hungarian government.

The problem is that they're not refugees and they're not looking for
safety; they're looking for free cash. Turkey is safe but they refuse to
stay there, it's the same with Hungary. They want to go to countries
where they know they will get welfare like France, England and Canada.
However, these refugees should be in camps and definitely shouldn't be
helped, especially when they're caught yelling "Fuck You" to the
authorities and chanting "Allahu Akbar!"

Besides, this problem was caused by the United States who financed the
group which would turn into ISIS (because they wanted to topple the
Syrian government) and supported by Turkey (whose prime minister was
caught arming the group). If anyone should deal with the consequences of
their actions, it's those two.

I know that ISIS is U.S. created, but those that are yelling out
obscenties to the public are most likely the U.S. planted insurgents
doing the yelling. The innocent ones are fleeing away from a war torn
country. Russia is now fighting side by side with Syrian forces.
Something that Kerry doesn't want to happen. So I believe that WWIII
has already started and is going to get much worse.

I believe you're right about World War 3, especially since Russia is
involved. However, I'm not convinced that the insurgents were plants.
Considering how people on the frontlines are reporting that the migrants
are mostly able-bodied young men, and not women and children, I wouldn't
let them in no matter what. There is too much of a likelihood that a
good percentage of those "innocent migrants" are in actuality ISIS
agents. In fact, ISIS has already claimed that their people have
infiltrated Europe through the migration.

One thing I noticed were the lack of the elderly in this migration.
The videos are hand picked by MSM and doesn't show all of the problems.
But on RT they have produced hard evidence that most of the insurgents
are run by the CIA, which they call the Obama regime. It seems they are
chasing out most of the people in the mideast, which begs the question,
other than oil, why and what for?
It'll remain to be seen, but usually after it is too late.

Hi Snit!
Does Mack come with RTFM? Apparently not!
Killing it doesn't turn it off forever, genius. It restarts it.
Why don't you read the links I gave you and learn how to use your
own operating system. I don't have a Mack. Don't want one. I like
my Unix to be Unix.

Does owl comes with a brain? Apparently not!
Read my first message: "That's why you can't restart Finder without
restarting whole GUI." That's what it does when you're restarting Finder.
What are you arguing with, again?
