AFAIK, this is the first time you mentioned saving to *Safari's* bookmarks list. That may have been a feature in the past, but I'm pretty sure all bookmarks are now stored in the map application itself. The equivalent to your desktop in iOS is the springboard. I'm not sure whether there's a way to save a map app bookmark there. -- E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter. I often ignore posts from Google. I can't get a link that lets me save a bookmark in either Apple maps, Google maps, or Safari, much less save a bookmark to the iPad's desktop, which was often useful. In fact, I have several such on this iPad Air's desktop that were saved on the old iPad and transferred with everything else when it was set up from the latter's last backup. I'm afraid to sync the old one now, however, for fear i'll lose something the sync of the new one might have changed. -- Erilar, biblioholic medievalist with iPad

The > link you provided presupposes such a possibility. OK! I am running Google Maps App on my iPad 2. If I enter an address or coordinates into the search field and execute the search to said location, G-Maps places its location tag at the searched for location. Now if I tap on that location tag (the black dot inside a reddish blob) a window will opengiving me information on that locatio and several options. I can save it my tapping on a blue star, i can share the location by tapping the curved blue arrow (options for G+, Message, eMail, or copy to clipboard), or I can have the route to that location calculated from my present position. if I save it, the star changes from blue to gold and is added to your "Saved Places". You get to those by tapping the little person symbol to the right of the "X" in the search window. That opens you information page showing stuff you might have told Google about yourself, a picture or Avitar, home address, work address, the status of your "Web History" and last but not least, a list of your saved places. -- Regards, Savageduck

OK, I mailed this to me to try. At the moment I'm at home with both iPads
and can REALLY multi-task 8-) i hope I'm just missing a step again. I only
seem to get the "route" line with that arrow.
TheiPad is still dithering about my home location, even though i found out
how to correct the street address. It seems to looking for it outdoors,
where it doesn't reach 8-). (95% underground house )

Thank you! I hadn't pushed that far enough. It even let me use googlemaps! It also suggested a mess of other apps to add 8-) i was acquiring so many maps apps of one kind or another that I finally made them a folde of their own 8-) -- Erilar, biblioholic medievalist with iPad
