So C# distinguishes between int and int? - the former being non-nullable
and the latter being nullable.

I can easily subscribe to the point of view, that C# does everything
such that the programmer is provided with the illusion that a variable
of type int is actually an object. However, I wonder whether converting
int to int? and back again might not be implemented using some form of
boxing and unboxing - maybe even with a comparable performance hit.
Certainly, the (un)boxing can be optimized away in some cases - but not
all of them.
