In ANS Forth, <name>! and <name>@ usually means "access an item of type
<name>", i.e. 2! 2@ C! C@ F! F@ etc.  I think the 2012 addition of
DEFER@ and DEFER! follows this usage.  A notable exception would be R@.

In the F18 instruction set, <name>! means "store into <name>", and
!<name> means "store into memory addressed by <name>".  This is in line
with the traditional words SP! SP@ RP! RP@.
