Is there a way to prevent one particular extension from offering to update? One of mine, Cardbook, is buggy in its latest version with the latest versions of Thunderbird. I'd like to keep Cardbook at an old version until the developer fixes it. I can, of course, manually decline the update, but that's one more thing to remember.

That way I just don't update any updates that I'm not sure I want. How is Cardbook buggy for you? It seems to be fine here with the latest updates of both Cardbook and TB.

Just to be more specific, I have the latest version of Cardbook (97.7) and TB (128.6.0).

I have Tbird extensions set for manual updates, too, but I'd prefer any updates to Cardbook not even be shown to me at this time. Some of my computers are still using Thunderbird 115.18.0 and Cardbook 94.5, which is the latest version offered for that Tbird. This combination works fine. A couple other computers are using Tbird 128.6.0esr, and a newer version of Cardbook, 97.7, is offered for this newer version of Tbird. If I stick to old version 94.5, it looks and acts like I expect. If I update Cardbook to 97.7, the display is garbled - font is wrong, elements are displaced, pictures missing, scrollbars are missing or non-working. I can downgrade to 94.5 and all is again well. Reading about the issues on Github, this appears to be a common and known problem that was introduced during CB 95.x and has something to do with the developer converting the interface to html. Seems it still needs work. I'm surprised that it looks OK to you - this is the kind of thing that I would have guessed affected everybody or nobody, but apparently not.

For me the fonts are fine (although I wish they were smaller), the elements look fine, no missing pictures, and scroll bars are all there and working fine. Wonder what is different. I know of no way to have updates for a single extension to be hidden. I just ignore them.

Cardbook for example, click on the extension in settings, scroll down the page and there is "automatic updates x default o On o off" Just click of off. cardbook *was* having issues. https://gitlab.com/CardBook/CardBook/-/issues/1771 has a new version in the next to the last comment. 98.4 Seems to fix a lot of my issues. -- Linux Mint 22, Cinnamon 6.2.9, Kernel 6.8.0-51-generic Thunderbird 128.5.2esr, Mozilla Firefox 134.0 Alan K.

This actually addresses the base problem, that the latest Cardbook wasn't working for me. If it really has been fixed, I don't need to hide the update, although I'm still curious if/how it can be done. I'll try Cardbook 98.4. I will be surprised but pleased if it does work. I tried a test version 98.3 and it fixed some, but not all the problems. But it does show that the developer is working on it.

More things are fixed, but still not all. The one I noticed is that in the contact details pane, the buttons along the top are not all visible. They seem to be centered in the window, so if the windows is too narrow to show them all, you can't use the scrollbar to reveal them. But the fonts seem to be OK now, the pictures are back, and the layout is better but still not quite right. The Notes are still missing from the General tab.

I just noticed that I am missing Notes on the General tab also. I do not use them very often, so I hadn't noticed before. Where are you getting version 98.4? I am not seeing it. 97.7 seems to the latest version available on the Thunderbird Add-on site. I see a link to 98.3 in one of the issues, but not 98.4.

I just noticed that next to the General tab there is a Notes tab and my notes are all there. Were the notes on the General tab at one time? Anyway, I can get to all my notes now.

And at the bottom (now bottom) is 98.5. Not sure what it fixes except one person could not get it working and removed everything and started over. Maybe he put in some more code for that. The Contact pane top buttons aren't displayed properly, and the Configuration window is missing some scroll bars and some of them don't work properly.

The right pane in this category needs a scroll bar to get down further.

I would say you might make the center pane with the list a bit more narrow, but that doesn't change the left panel with the options. https://postimg.cc/q6ywfNVh Doesn't show the left panel but I just looked and it's fine. -- Linux Mint 22, Cinnamon 6.2.9, Kernel 6.8.0-51-generic Thunderbird 128.5.2esr, Mozilla Firefox 134.0.1 Alan K.

What happens if you narrow the right (Contact) pane? I predict that the General button will eventually disappear off the pane to the left and can't be reached without re-sizing the pane - the scroll bar can't fully reveal it. Previously, the buttons were aligned to the left side of the pane, so if the pane was too narrow to show all the buttons, the rightmost ones, which are the least important ones, went out of sight, but you could still use the scroll bar to get at them.

I was suggesting make the center panel narrow to give the right panel more room. Of course this chops into your list.
