Could you give examples of what you mean read the camera.

Do you mean automatically download pictures from the camera?  If so this 
could be done with a simple DOS batch file.

Read the Image Information, EXIF info and read and write the IPTC info? 
If so Irfanview can do this.

Give us more infromation on what you want.
