Actually Einstein was a Swiss citizen. (Most likely his German 
citizenship was a fake.)

Leo Szillard was Hunganrian.

Marie Curie was Polish.

Edward Teller was Hungarian, too, and Robert Oppenheimer was American.

Otto Hahn was actually German, but was not involved in the atomic bomb 
development.

Germans could have build an atomic bomb, for sure, but didn't want.

Atomic bombs are a stupid weapon, because they are extremely large and 
destroy simply too much.

For relatively small countries like Germany atomic bombs are not an 
option and are regarded as a waste of money.

But Germans could build one (or more) if they wanted to do so.
