Please don't!

Atomic bombs in that region will make most of the middle east 
uninhabitable for centuries.

This is so, because that region is very 'dusty' and will distribute 
fall-out all over the place, because there is so little vegatation, 
which could eventually stop the spreading.

Another issue:

if there is an 'atomic shoot-out' between the west and the east, this 
will most likely not stop there, but will include the rest of the world, 
too.

But in a way, I like life and don't want to die for such stupidity.
