Windows, where backwards compatibility trumps everything...

You can't expect old software to continue working indefinitely while
simultaneously upgrading the operating system. OS X 10.5 was released
four years after 10.3; and there were significant enough changes that an
update to iPhoto was required. The error message you referenced above
also told you you'd need to update iPhoto to a later version that was
supported in Leopard.

A whopping what? $40? How much did you pay for the OS upgrade, BTW?

The previous version was included with a four year old operating system.
Nobody put a gun to your head and forced you to install a newer
operating system.

It still does run fine, in 10.3. Your expectation that Apple maintain
100% backward compatibility is unrealistic - especially knowing that
Apple's operating systems and software are historically a moving target.
You are ignoring that fact. If you want an operating system that puts
backward compatibility over innovation and all else, Windows is your
best choice.
