I recently (April 2016) wanted to install iLife '11 from a drop-in DVD. 
It failed with an "unknown error", telling me to contact the vendor of 
the software...

Then I remembered an issue in February with expired certificates from 
Apple.

I set the system date to 2014 and was able to install iLife '11 ;-)
