Probably, for strictness sake, a few extra observers as well. But that
is not a proof, it is an observation. ;)
Difference Between Proof and Observation:
Proof: Proof is a conclusive demonstration that establishes the truth of a
statement or proposition beyond any doubt. It involves a logical and
rigorous argument or series of steps that lead to the verification of a
claim. In mathematics, for example, a proof is a formal explanation that
shows why a theorem or statement is true based on axioms, definitions, and
previously proven results.
Observation: An observation, on the other hand, is a statement or fact
that can be readily perceived or noticed without the need for an elaborate
or detailed explanation. Observations are typically evident through simple
inspection or direct experience. In mathematical contexts, an observation
may refer to a statement whose truth is immediately apparent based on
basic principles or common knowledge.
Key Differences:
Conclusiveness: Proof is conclusive and leaves no room for doubt
regarding the truth of a statement, while an observation may be more
intuitive and apparent but lacks the formal rigor of a proof.
Complexity: Proofs often involve intricate logical reasoning and
structured arguments, whereas observations are usually straightforward and
easily discernible.
Formality: Proofs follow specific rules of logic and deduction to
establish validity, while observations may rely more on intuition or
common sense.
In summary, while both proofs and observations contribute to understanding
in various fields such as mathematics, science, and law, they differ in
terms of their level of conclusiveness, complexity, and formality.
