I agree that

I've tried looking up 'critical point' in
the context of topology, and I've gotten no joy.
There is the following, but it doesn't sound like
what you (RF) are calling a "critical point".

pointing out _several times_ by now that
you (RF) have got wrong
what the least.upper.bound property is.
Not everyone would consider that
