Weiß ich nicht, das hängt ja auch von verschiedenen Faktoren ab. Bei 
Glühbirnen vs. LED Leuchtmitteln ist die Ökobilanz bei dem moderneren 
Ersatz deutlich positiv. Bei PCs wird das vermutlich nicht ganz so 
schnell gehen, aber das hängt auch von der Nutzung ab, z.B. 
on-demand-Schreibmaschine vs. 24/7 Renderkiste. Mein Setup bis 2003 
hatte 2 Stück 19'' Röhrenmonitore mit insgesamt 400W Stromverbrauch, 
zuzüglich Rechner und Peripherie. Inzwischen ist ein Raspi mit 
LED-Backlight-Flachbildschirm in praktisch jeder Beziehung besser bei 
1/10 des Stromverbrauchs (wenn überhaupt).

Ich hatte damals in ähnlich falsch verstandener Sparsamkeit einen P100 
als DSL-Router ("reicht ja"). Nachdenklich wurde ich dann, als dessen 
Netzeillüfter ausfiel und die Kiste kuschelig warm wurde - ich hab dann 
den Stromverbrauch überschlagen und mir sehr schnell einen WRT54 
zugelegt, der sich alleine finanziell wg. Stromverbrauch innerhalb von 
1,5 Jahren amortisiert hat, und noch WLAN extra bot. Beliebig lange kann 
es da auch nicht dauern, bis die Ökobilanz nachzieht.

Niemand, denn ich bewahr allen möglichen alten Plunder auf. Und nun?

Ja, geschlossene Rohstoffkreisläufe sind längst überfällig. Wenn man 
allerdings Auto fährt und damit typischerweise im Nutznungszeitraum 
eines Computers > 1 Tonne Schrott erzeugt, plus Betriebs-CO2, spielen 
Details wie die Dauer der Computernutzung  auch keine Rolle mehr.

Auf der Arbeit werden übrigens hunderte Rechner alle 5 Jahre ersetzt 
(sicherlich verschrottet), wenn sie aus der Wartung fallen. Egal ob das, 
nach welcher technischen Parametrisierung auch immer, nötig ist oder nicht.
