all that means is that aol has imap servers, which was never in
dispute. 

i didn't say aol didn't support imap. i said there is no such thing as
'aol imap', a variant which would require aol specific software to
access. aol is well known for aol-specific software, going so far to
block third party apps from accessing it.

in other words, if they offer imap, then *any* imap compliant email app
will work. 

however, the original poster stated that aol won't offer imap to
migrated verizon customers, which if true, is amazingly stupid, but
then again, it's verizon & aol, so stupidity and incompetence is to be
expected. anything above that is a bonus.

it's possible that they won't *support* imap and that it will work for
those savvy enough to configure it on their own, but that's a guess.

it's hard to imagine that any isp these days would intentionally not
support imap.
