Lewis <g.kreme@gmail.com.dontsendmecopies> wrote: > Why do you care if they match? This isn't a free service apple passes out just because you use itunes, it's a subscription service you pay for. This problem with getting songs to match goes back to the beginning of the service and they seem to be treating it as a bastard child. Just look at the apple discussion board for the itunes match. Everyday it seems like one of these keep coming back: 1) how come when i ripped a cd not all the songs from it got matched 2) how come my explict lyric ones got replace with clean versions 3) how come my phone is downloading the entire itunes library 4) how come all my album art is screwed up or was replaced with wrong covers The thing is, it's not anything wrong the users are doing, it's broken on apples end. All the apologist "apple specialists" have to offer is leave feedback. Wow, after what, 2 years that mailbox must be going into /dev/null. Apples only change to itune match recently is they took away the radio service that was part of the subscription. To answer your question depends on how you listen to the music and how it was ripped on your end. The most noticable thing that happens is if you are listening to an entire cd rather than random tracks. As soon as it goes from an "uploaded" to "matched" song (or the other way around), there (on some) is a difference in volume, usually, or one sounds flatter or less presence, however you want to describe it. End of the world? Of course not. Some cd's, you can't tell the difference. The ones you do, it's annoying. It's like that spec of dirt on the monitor, once you notice it, you keep noticing it until you get rid of it. Same with itunes match, you can try to ignore it or try to fix it and pay apple all the while. -bruce bje@ripco.com
