Hyperbole.

None of that sounds like giving up to me.

My experience reflects yours: keep trying and eventually all or most
will match. In my case, I simply turned iTunes Match off and back on a
few times over a couple of days and I was done.

For me, with my selection of 4000+ songs in my library, most were
matched within a couple days of subscribing. Around 700 show up as
purchased, about 700 of them were uploaded, and a whopping 10 are
"ineligible". One of those is a custom ring tone I made, and the others
are some Johnny Cash, Rob Zombie, and Tool tracks. I'll fix them at some
point when I have time. I haven't bothered to try to force the ones that
were uploaded to match instead, because regardless of whether they are
matched, purchased, or uploaded, iTunes Match has allowed me to save
tons of space on all of my other devices with iTunes Match enabled -
most notably my and my wife's phones, where that space can be used for
other things rather than storing music. And of course it's also allowed
me to swap crappy MP3 songs for higher quality AAC songs from the iTunes
catalog. Overall it's well worth the money, IMO.
